After extensive research into vegetarian capsule options, we chose pullulan as the purest and most natural solution available. Derived from fermented tapioca starch, pullulan is water-soluble, toxin-free, and completely plant-based. It contains no animal products, starch, gluten, preservatives, or GMOs.

Pullulan capsules are ideal for health-conscious consumers and cater to a wide range of dietary and cultural needs. They are GRAS-certified (Generally Recognised as Safe) and carry Halal, Kosher, and Vegetarian Society approvals. They also require minimal processing, making them a more environmentally friendly choice.

In contrast, the most widely used "vegetarian" capsule in the supplement industry is made from vegetable cellulose, or Hypromellose (HPMC). While plant-derived, HPMC is heavily processed with synthetic compounds to create a hard capsule shell. That level of chemical alteration is something we prefer to avoid in our formulations.

While the drawbacks of sugar are commonly recognized, it's less known that many alternative sweeteners stem from chemical compounds that could be linked to issues such as brain tumors and Alzheimer's. In contrast, we use steviol glycosides, the scientific term for stevia, a plant-based zero-calorie sweetener alternative. Unlike most sugars and sweeteners, stevia doesn't raise insulin levels. Furthermore, research suggests that it may contribute to healthy weight, bone strength, blood pressure regulation, and oral health.

Many supplement companies use additives and fillers to simplify manufacturing or reduce costs. These may include substances like rice bran (commonly used as a filler), silicon dioxide (to prevent clumping), or magnesium stearate (to lubricate machinery during capsule production). While some of these are considered generally safe at low levels, their inclusion is not always necessary — and in certain cases, their safety or impact on nutrient absorption has been debated in scientific literature.

For example, rice bran itself is safe for most people, but rice can naturally accumulate higher levels of arsenic compared to other plants, which raises concerns about its use as a routine filler. Magnesium stearate, though widely used and recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, has been criticized for its potential effects on nutrient dissolution and immune function in some experimental studies, though these findings remain inconclusive. The reality is that these additives primarily serve the manufacturing process — not the health of the consumer.

In our capsules, we take the more demanding route by avoiding fillers, binders, or flow agents altogether. Our capsules contain only pure magnesium bisglycinate and the vegan pullulan capsule shell. This approach is more costly and technically challenging, but we believe it ensures the cleanest, most effective product for our customers — without unnecessary additives that don’t contribute to your health.

Colours can certainly catch the eye, but, in our opinion, dyes have no place in a health supplement. All our supplements are dye/colour free.

In the development of PrizMAG, our highly absorbable magnesium bisglycinate supplement, we had to find a suitable form of encapsulation. However, the available options didn't align with our preferences. While gelatin is generally recognized as safe, it contradicted our vegan principles. Hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, or HPMC, served as a vegan alternative, but after extensive research we found it resembles plastic – an undesirable substance for ingestion. Recent research indicated the presence of plastic in the stool of all HPMC test subjects, a concerning statistic we wished not to contribute to. Fortunately, we found pullulan, a starch-free vegan alternative derived from naturally fermented plants, which met our criteria.

Magnesium is inherently gluten-free! What's even better is that we produce our products in a facility that goes above and beyond, taking extra precautions to guarantee there's no chance of gluten contamination.

We are committed to delivering all-natural products without preservatives. To achieve this, we meticulously monitor the pH level and humidity during the manufacturing process, ensuring freshness from start to finish. You may have seen magnesium stearate listed as an ingredient in dietary supplements or medications. It’s a compound made from magnesium and stearic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. Magnesium stearate is commonly used as an excipient—an inactive ingredient that helps with manufacturing but doesn’t offer any nutritional benefit.

Its main role is to improve powder flow, prevent sticking during production, and ensure consistent capsule filling. While it's widely used and generally considered safe, we believe that a pure supplement is a better absorbed supplement. If your body doesn’t need it, we don’t include it.

Some concerns about magnesium stearate stem from a mouse study involving high levels of isolated stearic acid—not magnesium stearate—and these findings have not been confirmed in human studies. A 2020 paper in the AAPS Journal also found that variability in magnesium stearate quality can impact the solubility of certain pharmaceutical drugs, potentially affecting performance.

Though uncommon, individuals with sensitivities to stearic acid may experience mild allergic reactions, such as skin irritation or respiratory symptoms.

Magnesium stearate is not a supplement—it’s a processing aid used in manufacturing, with no nutritional benefit.

However, we've chosen not to display an official non-GMO badge on our product labels. The reason is that obtaining this certification would incur an annual cost of $4,000, leading to potential price increases for our products. We prioritize keeping our products economically priced for our consumers and have opted against using the badge for this reason.

While many fillers are generally considered "safe" for consumption, their extensive research is lacking, and they have been associated with issues like allergies and poor nutrient absorption. We advocate for avoiding fillers whenever feasible, particularly when prioritizing health. Some companies resort to fillers to simplify the manufacturing process, but through our cutting-edge research and technology, we've discovered alternatives. We derive our magnesium from various sources. For MAG365, we specifically require a precise mesh size—granular has a larger mesh size than powder—to facilitate the transformation of the blend into ionic magnesium citrate. This particular magnesium is sourced from the sea off the shores of India. We meticulously vet our suppliers to ensure they maintain a high standard of production, similar to what we uphold at our facility, including ISO certification. Regular testing of raw materials and batch testing of every finished product are integral to our quality assurance, and our longstanding partnerships with suppliers attest to the consistent success of each batch. In the case of our magnesium bisglycinate, we initially identified two potential suppliers—one in the USA and one in China. Upon careful analysis, we determined that the Chinese manufacturer aligns better with our product requirements. The absence of fillers in our formulation makes material flow a crucial consideration, and our Chinese partner's material flows more smoothly. Additionally, we had reservations about the integrity of the US company, which, though it may or may not be entirely fair, is rooted in perceived lapses in transparency in their past dealings. We apply the same rigorous protocols to our Chinese manufacturer, with whom we have maintained a longstanding partnership, and each batch undergoes thorough testing to ensure compliance with our exceptionally high standards. While some individuals express concern about procuring raw materials overseas, we have always conducted a worldwide search to identify the best materials for our specific needs. It is important to note that China itself is not the issue; rather, the problem often lies in cutting corners to obtain a cheaper product. Our manufacturer does not compromise on quality, and unfortunately, we haven't found a local manufacturer that can offer the same level of quality.

In our MAG365 products, citric acid plays a crucial role as a key ingredient in creating ionic magnesium citrate. While a type of mould is used in the production of citric acid, it’s important to note that not all mould is harmful, and the citric acid itself does not contain mould. Citric acid is made through a process called ‘submerged fermentation.’ Specific microorganisms, often sourced from carbohydrates like corn (or in this case, non-GMO sugar beets) are carefully cultivated in a medium made up of glucose or sucrose. This process results in the creation of citric acid. After fermentation, the mould is carefully filtered out, leaving behind a pure citric acid. This method of citric acid production is widely used and considered safe, and it’s a regularly used ingredient in many foods, supplements, and medications.

Not all synthetic vitamins are less effective than natural ones—it depends on the specific vitamin. In some cases, we choose a synthesized version because it is cleaner, more environmentally friendly, avoids extraction from complex mixtures or slurries, ensures purity, and provides a more stable and consistent nutrient profile.

For some vitamins, the synthetic and natural forms are equally effective, while for others, there are key differences in how they function in the body.

Our Vitamin K2 is synthesized to ensure purity and effectiveness. It is microencapsulated to prevent degradation in the presence of magnesium and calcium and is 100% Trans, making it the superior choice. Naturally sourced K2 from natto is present in very low amounts. Extracting it requires solvents, which also pull out various other oils, creating a mixture with less than 1% K2. Additionally, much of the K2 in this extract is in the CIS form, which is less beneficial than the preferred Trans form.

Vitamin E is an example where the synthetic version does not work the same way as the natural form. It’s like trying to wear a left-handed glove on your right hand—it sort of fits but isn’t ideal.

Our Vitamin D3 is naturally sourced from lichen, which grows on trees and rocks. The lichen is harvested, and the D3 oil is extracted and concentrated using a solvent. This process allows us to offer a VEGAN D3. In contrast, non-vegan D3 is typically sourced from sheep lanolin—extracted from the wash water after sheep are cleaned.

Our Citric Acid is sourced from non-GMO sugar beets.

Our Magnesium Carbonate is made from seawater and carefully sourced for purity and quality.

Every natural material on earth — including fruits, vegetables, and even drinking water — contains trace amounts of heavy metals like lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium, because they naturally occur in soil, air, and water. That said, we take this very seriously. Every batch of our raw materials is third-party lab tested to ensure heavy metal levels are well below the strict safety limits set by Health Canada, USP, and the European Union (about 0.5–3 parts per million).

To put that into perspective, 1 part per million (PPM) is like adding just half a shot glass of food coloring to an entire backyard pool — tiny. The amounts in our products are not harmful and are often lower than what’s naturally found in everyday foods like spinach, rice, or chocolate.

For full transparency, we’re always happy to share lab results for completed batches. Bottom line: while it’s impossible to eliminate heavy metals completely from nature, the levels in our supplements are kept well below considered safe. Your health and safety are always our top priority.
